Moving right along.
Baby Growth: According to the websites and updates it kinda seems like the "exciting" stuff has slowed down. Meaning, no new kidneys are popping up lately. She has her eyelids now, can recognize my voice and Jerod's as well since her ears have developed. She is working on growing her lungs, although she still has quite a bit more to go on this one. Cute stuff happening; she is growing eyebrows and her hair(if she has any) and baby fat! She's gonna need insulation the next few months because Minnesota winter has hit full force. AND! She's over a foot long and if by unfortunate chance she were born right now she would have a fighting chance in this world. But please stay put Bearina, we still don't have a crib.
Weight Gained: *looks off into distance whistling* According to my midwife and my scale, my weight has made a "drastic jump" this past month. Not sure how it happened or what I did, but I've put on 10lbs in 5 weeks so that would bring the total to 17 lbs. GULP. I can just hear the "but its good weight, its for the baby" but theres no convincing me when my regular pants stopped fitting one morning. I had a thorough text conversation with a friend on the topic of how sacrifice in motherhood starts in pregnancy. I AM NOT COMPLAINING! I am acknowledging that this is hard, and thats ok to feel.
Symptoms: Heres the new gist-
- If you need to find my black fleece at work just look for the one covered in blonde hairs. I thought I read somewhere that you shed your hair AFTER giving birth but it my case it would be RIGHT NOW.
- I have pretty constant upper back pain, it just might have something to do with the rapid weight gain. Cat/cow stretches as well as long back rubs from my amazing husband seem to help a lot though.
- Kicks, tumbles, rolls and head butts continue to make our day. Bearina moves all day long, I don't have to worry about kick counting for the moment because she seems to be in constant motion. Since her weight is up to 2 lbs she is getting stronger so you can see the movement when I am just sitting still.
Cravings: Still pretty into apples. Hmm, lets see. Not sure I've had anything else new. I do seem more into sweets than I was pre-pregnancy so I've been visiting the gift shop at work. If you've worked with me you've probably seen the bag of chewy sprees sitting by my charting....please help yourselves!
Aversions: This isn't a food aversion but my "iron stomach" for work related things has seemed to weaken a bit. I over heard a juicy, hacking cough yesterday and felt myself starting to panic, like I just might lose my chewy sprees.
Sleep: Its been unremarkable lately, besides the 4am pee breaks. Oh wait, if I turn too fast in the middle of the night I get stomach muscle pain from rolling too fast. But its either gone away or I've learned to sleep through it.
Workouts: Still doing moderately well, gotten in a few runs, I take the stairs any time I can. We are taking the Bradley Method classes so I've also started doing all the recommended exercises and stretches every day.
Miss Anything?: My regular jeans. :)
Baby Items Purchased: Nothing huge, we've been gifted swings, clothes, toys and its so amazing. Even the concept of showers, we are already getting the greatest gift of a baby girl so the fact that others would want to shower us with gifts for nothing in return is very humbling. We are VERY grateful. I've been on the search for some nursery furniture second hand and should probably start getting serious about it since the holidays are gonna fly by and I'll be full term before we know it.
Maternity Clothes: My friend Breanna took me to some maternity consignment shops one saturday. Its hard to justify forking over big bucks for something you are only going to wear for a few months. So, I snagged some shirts and tanks for half the price! I also recently went to Target and bought some long maternity tanks to wear under shirts at work. Nothing screams professional nurse quite like your belly popping out while taking care of a trauma patient. Also, Abby recently brought over some larger size jeans she wore when pregnant that will help give me some transition time before maternity pants take over.
Looking Forward To: Taking Bearina on her first 5k race this Thursday. This will just be the start of many races I hope!
Best Pregnancy Moment This Month: We have a few! :)
-We registered which was entertaining, turns out Jerod can't resist scanning all the new gadgets and fun toys.
-Bearina went on her first road trip up north this past weekend; she and I enjoyed sparkling cider with some of my best roomies.
-Name searching brings up lots of fun stories i.e. "no, I once knew a girl with a constant runny nose who had that name".
-And Jerod's personal favorite- we sets up baby girls savings account.
Well, thats all until CHRISTMAS!
Happy Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for over here this year. God has truly given us more than we deserve! I'll spare you the sappy details but we know that having a healthy pregnancy & baby or being pregnant at all is not something to be taken for granted.
So, if you'll excuse me I am going to go prep for the big holiday tomorrow....
...by laying on the couch for a few hours.
