Were we supposed to have things done by now?
Maybe narrowed down a names list?
Read a few books already?
We decided to take off across the pond for a few weeks and explore other countries. Baby Bear is a world traveler before they even take their first breath! :)
I'm already a slacker mom and missed the 16 week pic but here are a few "official chalkboard wall" ones and a few creative travel ones to catch you up to speed.
Baby Growth: We had the 20 week ultrasound today and Baby Bear is measuring right on date. BB has a perfectly formed brain, spine, organs, extremities and well, everything! This child is VERY active. I thought when I felt movement maybe the babe was just throwing out a punch or kick but according to what we saw baby is literally doing cartwheels, somersaults and twisting all around. The tech was literally chasing the babe back and forth across my stomach to get her measurements. So everything is there where it should be and we couldn't be more happy to hear that. Our child is truly "fearfully and wonderfully made".
Weight Gained: +7lbs. I'm not gonna win friends with this next statement but.....I actually lost a little weight with all our walking in Europe. But on the ultrasound today BB is the perfect weight so no worries.
Symptoms: Heres the new gist-
- Leg cramps, but not while I'm ready or in the middle of stretching. Nope, these suckers attack in the middle of the night and cause lots of yelping, massaging and writhing back and forth before they subside.
- Sniffles, runny nose, pregnancy rhinitis. Jerod told me the other day I sniff approximately 3 times a minute in my sleep. Basically I'm a real treat to sleep next to right now.
- Baby Bear is kicking and moving!! Its so cool. I felt the first kicks around 17 weeks and its been getting more intense ever since. Around 19 weeks, in Paris, Jerod felt the baby kick against his hand.
Cravings: Apples, apples and more apples. Good thing its apple season. I ate them every time i could find them on our trip. I also bought a box of Honey Nut Cheerios the other day for the first time in about 10 years. So maybe that counts as a craving.
Aversions: Sadly the smells of a few cheeses made me turn up my nose in Europe. Jerod was elated because that meant more for him.
Sleep: Besides the leg cramps and current jet lag sleep has been pretty normal.
Workouts: This time I can say I've been very good. We walked MILES every day and even did a some hiking and a 4 hour bike tour. We also just signed up for the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 5k.
Miss Anything?: Hmmmmm, nothing is popping out at me.
Baby Items Purchased: We have bought a book, but we've received several awesome gifts that include baby books and maternity clothes. Oh yeah, and we bought a baby boy outfit we thought was adorable. We also went looking for a baby girl outfit so we could have one of each.
Maternity Clothes: My mom, sister and friends have showered me with gift cards, new shirts and lended me their maternity clothes. Its like a whole new wardrobe to look forward to! I have only worn a few of the shirts and bought one long tank top. Mostly because they were super cute and not so much out of need just yet.
Looking Forward To: Starting our baby classes in November!
Best Pregnancy Moment This Week: Seeing our baby moving around like crazy on the ultrasound and hearing over and over that everything is looking "normal" and "healthy". Its funny how in pregnancy all you want to hear each appointment is how NORMAL everything is going.
Well, there you have it. The halfway, 20 week update.
Baby Bear Arlich is a GIRL!!!!!!!
