Moving right along.
So, same as the other posts...I missed a few weeks. But you'll get the idea. Bearina is growing and so am I with her. Also, I would just like to say, "WHY ARE ALL PREGNANCY SHIRTS STRIPED!? and not just striped, HORIZONTAL STRIPES!?"
Moving right along.
On Oct 4th we headed to the airport in the evening to start off on our long awaited trip! We were off to Santorini, Greece first.
Whoa, how did we get here already?!
Were we supposed to have things done by now?
Maybe narrowed down a names list?
Read a few books already?
We decided to take off across the pond for a few weeks and explore other countries. Baby Bear is a world traveler before they even take their first breath! :)
I'm already a slacker mom and missed the 16 week pic but here are a few "official chalkboard wall" ones and a few creative travel ones to catch you up to speed.
I've heard people just LOOOOVE it when you compare your baby's size to a fruit. So, for all you pregnancy belly photo searchers out there here are ours for the past few weeks.
We can all be honest though and agree that it just looks like I've started slouching or have recently eaten too much Chipotle.
I'm not sure when Jerod was first called "JerBear", "Big Bear" or "Bear" but it has been his nickname for many years. From hunting camp to around his parent's house this is his title. So, it was a natural spin off when we thought we might be pregnant in June for Jerod to start referring to the little one as "Baby Bear". Occasionally over text when we were first super secretive we referred to the little bugger as "BB" and every once and a while we feminize it with "Baby Bearina". For the most part though the loving name we have stuck with is Baby Bear.
I could probably write a chapter on what the last 3 months have looked like before we spilled the news publicly but I will spare you the details unless you ask me over coffee. :) Then you will get the full story.
For the rest of you that have stopped by, here is the gist of what our lives have looked like as we absorbed the amazing news, shared the news and how the news has become a new reality.
What this post should really be called is-
"What We Ate When We Went To Nashville".
Jerod's friends from Stanford sent us a save the date last year for their wedding in Nashville this summer and we threw it on the calendar immediately. Nashville seems like a city we belong in, or at least should visit frequently...
and amazing food!
We were pumped! We got a great deal on tickets that required a 3am wake time so we arrived around lunch time a few days before the wedding. Naturally we went to the hotel, changed and headed out in search of food.
Up on Arlich Road, about a mile from Jerod's parent's cabin is a piece of land we have wanted to buy since we were first dating. Memorial weekend 2010 was when we first met the owner, Carolyn, and she showed us around. When we drove away that day we had our first "future/forever" conversation when we said, "if that cabin ever goes up for sale we are going to buy it".
Well, it is up for sale now and sadly, we cannot buy it but the owner was gracious enough to let us rent it for Memorial Day weekend this year.
So, here are the pictures of our dream cabin and land. I'm sure you'll fall in love just as much as we did.
Back in April my parents spilled the beans that they were going to move to Pensacola, FL. I knew I lost my chances at keeping them here when it snowed 6 inches on the day they sold their house. Once I discovered my begging wasn't working I spoke with my siblings and we decided to throw a HUGE surprise party. My parents had lived in MN for 22 years and there was a large community of friends from church to neighbors to homeschoolers who wanted to come out and show them love. There was also family who wanted to make the trek across the US to come and be there for the surprise.
My siblings and I worked for the next 23 days to put together the party, find a location, send out invites, order kegs, compile decorations and figure out how to get my parents there. On the day of the party a team of our friends and my mom's friend came out to serve us and our parents. It was incredible!
This room went from "troubled teenager" to "modern chic" in less than 2 weeks. Jerods gonna be thrilled that I referred to one of our rooms as "chic".
I mean, we changed into "the most manly, rough, tough and burliest room there ever was"!
